Our History
Located in Mutxamel (Alicante), construction of Drive-In El Sur began in 1978. The first film shown was Superman 2 in September 1980.
More than 4,500 films have been shown and 2.3 million viewers have attended in 45 years.
Since then, we have remained open year-round, striving to improve our audiences' experiences day after day.
Suitable for families, groups of friends, and couples.
Our bar remains open from the very beginning to this day.
Welcome to the AutoCine El Sur Mutxamel Film Festival, a unique event celebrating cinema in all its forms, screened outdoors in a magical setting: an authentic drive-in theater, operating since 1980, located in Mutxamel (Alicante, Spain).
This festival is open to films with a variety of themes, welcoming both independent filmmakers and commercial productions, with the aim of supporting and showcasing the diverse talent of today's film scene.
The selected films will be screened on a big screen, in a classic drive-in style, where audiences can enjoy the screenings from the comfort of their cars, with direct-to-vehicle bar service and an unparalleled atmosphere.
